• Library Catalog
  Use the catalog to find books we have in the Kresge Library. Also use the catalog to see if we have access to a particular journal title on-line or in print.
• MelCat
  A statewide catalog of many of Michigan's libraries. It allows you to request books at another library be sent to Kresge Library for you.

Find Articles

• Social Work Abstracts - the main index to articles devoted to social work.
• Social Services Abstracts - an index to scholarly articles (including some full-text) in social services.
• Social Sciences Abstracts - another good Index to the journal literature of the social sciences. This index contains more journals than the previous two.
• Lexis-Nexis - Excellent place to find full-text articles from law reviews, newspapers, and magazines.
• America: History & Life - Scholarly source of historical information for social policy in the US.
• Academic OneFile - A general purpose full-text database from InfoTrac. Contains both popular and scholarly articles.

Depending upon your topic, there may be other relevant databases for your research. Consult the library's list of databases arranged by subject area.

In these databases, if an article is not available online, use the feature to identify if the article is available online in another database or in print in the library.

• Congressional Universe - excellent place to start. Search by topic or Public Law number.
• Lexis-Nexis - Click the LEGAL tab at top to search the US Code and the Code of Federal Regulations.
• Social Policy Research - choosing a Policy to Research from the Georgia State University Library
• THOMAS - Library of Congress - Full-text of all public laws and bill summary and status information from the 101st Congress (1989-90) to the present.
• GPO Access - public and private laws
  • Statutes at Large
• Statutes at Large - The United States Statutes at Large from the first forty-three Congresses contains the full-text of all public and private laws from 1789 through 1875.
